Where did you grow up?
Lansing/Dimondale and briefly lived in Massachusetts
When did you become a member at CrossFit Shift
What do you do when you are not at CrossFit Shift? (occupation, hobbies, etc.)
I quit my job as a business analyst last year to be a stay at home mom to our three kids; Brenden (8), Lyndi (6), and Lorelai (1). I homeschool Brenden so I’m pretty busy between school, volunteering, and extra-curriculars. My current hobbies include folding laundry, solo trips to the store, and chauffeuring. Pre-kids, my favorite thing to do was road-tripping with my husband Keegan with no planned destination, and finding unique hole-in-the-wall coffee shops and places to eat.
How did you find out about CrossFit
I think we first heard about it at the Saade’s when Eddie was stuck in a chair unable to move and dying or something… they told us about some crazy workout they’d done and they couldn’t wait for the next one. J It was several more years before we finally gave it a try though.
When did you realize CrossFit is right for you?
When I couldn’t move the day after Foundations and I’d only done some squats (if you could call them that). It was eye opening. I knew I needed a workout program that would kick my ass but not get boring, and CF was it.
What is your favorite WOd/movement?
WODs with rowing or deadlifts.
What is your least favorite Wod/movement?
Anything with jumping. Followed by push-ups.
What would your perfect WOD look like?
An AMRAP with running, rowing, and deadlifts.
What is one thing you have done at CrossFit Shift that you never thought you would do?
What motivates you during a CrossFit WOD?
Good, LOUD, old school music… and when any of my kids are there watching.
What is something about yourself that we might not know?
I’m super introverted and suck at small talk but I really do like people and chatting once I find something to talk about. I’m a geek at heart and appreciate a good math pun and random trivia.
What advice would you give someone just getting started with CrossFit?
Just get out there and do it. Don’t be afraid to scale and don’t be afraid to speak up when you’re not sure of what you should do or how to scale, the coaches will always help find something that works for you.
